Coronavirus Information

Coronavirus Update #4
Posted 3.27.2020 8:30 p.m.
On March 26, Bishop Sharma Lewis of the VA Conference shared with us a letter containing updates regarding COVID-19.  You can find the full letter here.

Our facility, including building and grounds, will remain closed for meetings, events, large and small group gatherings until at least April 23, 2020.

At this time, Kitty's Kids is discussing how they may be able to reach out and serve our community as a child care center for essential personnel who need child care during this time. They will have to follow very strict guidelines laid out by the state and the Conference in order to serve in this capacity.  More information regarding this can also be found in Bishop Lewis' letter linked above.

Pray Each Day at Noon
On Sunday during worship, Pastor Jay led us in a prayer written by Bishop Sharma Lewis.  We are being encouraged to pray this prayer each day at noon.  You can find the prayer here.

Coronavirus Update #3
Posted 3.18.2020 1:40 p.m.
While the Coronavirus is changing how we do ministry, it is important to remember that the mission of our church has not changed. As we live into this new normal, we are continuing to find ways to reach out and serve as we grow in relationship with Jesus Christ and each other.
In order to take precautions to protect the most vulnerable among us, it is vital that we participate in social distancing. Bishop Lewis has informed us that on-site, in person worship will be canceled March 22 and now additionally, March 29
We will continue to provide updates as they become available.

Office Hours
The safety of our congregation and our staff is always of top priority. While we are under this state of emergency, our office hours are reduced to 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday-Friday for ESSENTIAL church business only.Building access is restricted during this time. Please enter through the office.
While our office hours are reduced, rest assured our administrative and program staff,  clergy, as well as volunteer leadership continue to work at all hours to insure we stay connected and in ministry as a church community.

How to Reach Out
We continue to seek ways to reach out to others during this unprecedented event.
Our UMW was able to raise about $5000 from their Saturday yard sale which will support local, national, and international missions. Thank you to everyone who donated items to support this effort.
Sending Cards to Nursing Homes —  As of today, we are still allowed to send cards to nursing home facilities, but it is advised not to send them to individual homes due to the fact that Coronavirus can live on surfaces and potentially could be transmitted through paper cards.  Our youth are working to send cards directly to our members in nursing homes. We are encouraging others to send cards to any resident at The Hermitage and label this way. (We know The Hermitage will accept cards marked to any resident, other facilities will not.)
