Director of Discipleship (Full-Time)
Shady Grove United Methodist Church (Mechanicsville), near Richmond, Virginia, is offering a full-time opportunity to lead a Christ-centered multi-dimensional Discipleship Ministries program.  We are seeking a self-starting, Spirit-driven person with a demonstrated ability to envisage, develop, coordinate and lead a comprehensive program of spiritual formation and discipleship, which includes education, missions, and small group ministry across all age groups, with a heavy emphasis on youth and young adult ministry. This person will have demonstrated the ability to work with a team, and will support and supervise part-time staff in the areas of youth and young adult ministries and children’s ministry.  The successful candidate will have knowledge of United Methodist polity with a clear understanding of Wesleyan theology and thought.  A degree in Christian education or equivalent is required, and advanced study is preferred. Candidate must have a demonstrated ability to plan, organize, recruit, teach, coach and lead lay-leadership.  Candidate should be proficient in Microsoft Office suite software and other job related applications and social media.  Organizational skills and the ability to effectively communicate through a broad variety of channels to children, youth and adults is a must.  Supervisory experience is preferred.  Salary, including benefits, will be commensurate with education and experience.  Click here for full job description.

Coordinator of Youth and Young Adult Ministries (Part-Time, approx. 15 hrs/week)
Shady Grove United Methodist Church (Mechanicsville), near Richmond, Virginia, is offering a part-time opportunity to implement a Christ-centered multi-dimensional youth and young adult ministry program. Primarily focusing on youth in grades 6-12, the coordinator will work with the Director of Discipleship to implement a ministry that enables youth to grow into a closer relationship with Jesus Christ while promoting Christian service in the world.  Responsibilities will include youth group, small groups, mission experiences, and retreats. The coordinator will support college and young adult ministry programs as well. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to work with other church staff, parents, and adult volunteers to implement intergenerational ministry opportunities. College-level pre-ministerial study, or study in the areas of youth ministry or Christian education are a must. Candidate must possess leadership and organizational skills.  Candidate should be proficient in Microsoft Office suite software and other job related applications and social media.  A basic understanding and appreciation of United Methodist theology is required.  Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
