Gospel Jail Ministry

Gospel Jail Ministry is a non-denominational, evangelical organization that provides pastoral care for all staff and inmates despite criminal charge or sentence. Its primary mission is to bring the good news of the Gospel to everyone in these institutions.

This is carried out through:

  • Personal contacts and counseling
  • Worship services and Bible studies
  • Independent Bible studies
  • Family contacts are made by the Chaplains to enlist the family’s support and to encourage them during the rehabilitation process.
  • Follow-up services are provided to help the inmate re-enter society. The Ministry often serves as their liaison with the community and family pastors.

Shady Grove UMC supports Gospel Jail Ministry through financial donations and assistance for the families and children of those incarcerated.
