Fall Retreats
Whether in middle school or high school, come join us for a weekend of worship, fellowship, mission, and learning at Eagle Eyrie Retreat Center in Lynchburg! (Dates are listed below.) The theme for this year’s retreats is “Extra. Ordinary. Love.” Speaker Joe Varner and a guest band will lead worship, with lots of opportunities to connect with groups from across Virginia.

Our group will depart on Friday afternoon after school and return by mid-afternoon on Sunday (ETA: 3 p.m.). To register, submit a payment of $80.00, payable to “Shady Grove UMC,” to Dwayne Stinson in the church office. Late registrations will incur a $10 late fee, and may not be possible. As always, if finances pose a challenge, please contact Dwayne.

Middle School Summer Mission Trip 2019
Deadline to register: September 30, 2018
Deposit: $50
In summer 2019, middle school youth are invited to spend a week with the Jeremiah Project (www.jeremiahproject.org), in service and mission in either Romney, WV or Winchester, VA. JP is a home repair ministry that balances service with worship, devotions, and fellowship in a way designed specifically for middle school youth (grades 6-8). The total cost of the week for families is $200.00 payable by March 1, with a $50.00 deposit due by September 30 (fully refundable until Feb. 1, 2019). Youth should sign up for the weeks that work best with their anticipated schedule next summer. Youth who are “on the fence” should register now, to secure a spot, and if youth find they cannot go, they can withdraw with a full refund until February 1. The form to select your preferred weeks is available here.

High School Summer Mission Trip 2019
Deadline to express interest: September 30, 2018
Next summer, the high school youth have the opportunity to participate in the first year of high school ministry with the Jeremiah Project (www.jeremiahproject.org) in Jonesville, VA. This experience is being developed specifically for high school youth, and includes hands-on service projects, usually including significant construction, along with quality worship and programming and opportunities to connect with youth from other churches. The dates for the high school week are June 30-July 6. Because this date overlaps with the 4th of July holiday, we need to gauge interest. If enough youth are available and interested, the total cost for the week for families will be $200.00 payable by March 1. A refundable (until Feb. 1, 2019) $50.00 deposit will be due by October 26 once we have confirmed that there is interest. To express interest in the trip, please e-mail Dwayne Stinson.
