Journey to Bethlehem: The Shadow — Rev. Sandra Bottoms
This week in our Journey to Bethlehem sermon series, we find that the road sometimes meanders through the shadows. Advent is a time of waiting, of expectation, of hope in the darkness. Indeed, this season holds the promise that even after the bleakest, coldest, longest night, the light will break in. We, like John while in prison, find ourselves waiting for light, for God to renew and heal the world — a promise that we understand to have been mysteriously embodied in a baby born in a manger. And the deep, profound truth in all of this is that we need not fear the dark. Instead wait there…for the one who was, and is, and is to come will meet us there.
