I was raised in Conroe, Texas north of Houston together with my parents and older brother. I chose Christ back powerfully at the age of 15 and completed my undergraduate studies in Social Work and Religious Studies at Texas Christian University. I then moved to Portland, Oregon to work as a full-time volunteer for the local Habitat for Humanity affiliate and to serve as a Youth Director at Portland First UMC.
Following God’s call, I went to seminary at Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia and more significantly, this is where I married my awesome husband Drew Johnson who is ordained in the Christian Church, Disciples of Christ Church. After graduation from seminary, we moved overseas, where I served four churches in the British Methodist Church for three years while Drew taught at an all-boys Roman Catholic school. We returned to the states and headed out west where I served a medium-sized church in Idaho for five years within the Oregon Idaho Conference-and was ordained in 2006.
God led us to Virginia in 2008 when Drew joined the faculty at St. Catherine’s School as the Upper School Teacher of religion, philosophy, and psychology. I served Memorial UMC in Charles City county for 6 years – this appointment began as part time but grew to full time in three years. I then was appointed to River Road UMC in 2015 and to Shady Grove in 2023.
We have three fabulous daughters-Hannah, Grace, and Thea and a sweet dog named Daisy.
Life is full and rich, and I am grateful to know that it is God we have to thank and Christ whom we have to follow!
